Marathon

The Shepparton Marathon offers a stunning two-lap, flat, and fast 42.2km journey through some of Shepparton’s most picturesque parklands, river trails, and tranquil lakes. Certified by AIMS, this officially measured course is ideal for those chasing a Boston Qualifier, a personal best, or simply embracing the challenge of the full marathon distance.

Starting and finishing at the lively festival hub beside Victoria Park Lake, runners head south along the winding riverside paths of the Goulburn and Broken Rivers. These shaded, tree-lined trails create a relaxed early rhythm as runners make their way toward the Kialla section of the course.

In Kialla, the course transitions into a scenic 7km loop circling three sparkling lakes, offering open views and a peaceful change of pace. At the southern end of the lakes, runners complete a short out-and-back section before rejoining the loop and beginning their return journey to Shepparton.

After the Kialla loop, runners cross the iconic Causeway near the Midland Highway, taking in sweeping views of the Goulburn River before following the familiar riverside trails back to Victoria Park Lake. Upon reaching the festival precinct, marathoners complete Lap 1 — then head straight back out to repeat the entire course for Lap 2.

With aid stations positioned every 4 to 5 kilometres, runners enjoy plenty of hydration, electrolytes, and energetic volunteer support throughout both laps.

The final kilometres bring runners back along the lakeside path to the festival finish, where family, friends, and supporters will be waiting to cheer them home and celebrate their marathon achievement.
