The 5km event delivers a stunning showcase of Shepparton’s river and parkland scenery, offering both first-timers and seasoned runners a fun, fast, and accessible course. Starting from the vibrant festival hub at Victoria Park Lake, participants set out along the lake’s picturesque foreshore, enjoying paved pathways and plenty of spectator support.
The route gently guides runners along the lakeside before leading them across the iconic suspension bridge spanning the Goulburn River — a course highlight that offers fantastic views of the water below and surrounding bushland. After crossing the bridge, the course follows the Causeway adjacent to the Midland Highway, providing a unique vantage point of Shepparton’s riverside landscape.
With minimal elevation changes and a smooth, well-maintained surface throughout, this course is perfect for those chasing a personal best or simply looking for an enjoyable, social 5km run. After looping back toward Victoria Park Lake, runners will enjoy a scenic return stretch alongside the water, with the final straight bringing them back into the heart of the festival precinct for a festive finish, music, and post-race celebrations.
Whether you're testing your speed or sharing the experience with friends and family, the 5km event captures everything that makes the Shepparton Running Festival such a community favourite.
